Wild Matsutake Mushrooms
Matsutake mushrooms are world-renowned for being a rare and valuable natural medicinal fungus, as well as an exceptionally precious edible wild mushroom. They are hailed as the "King of Mushrooms" due to their unique rich aroma and smooth, refreshing texture. Muli County produces over 700 tons of fresh matsutake annually. Muli boasts forestry land covering 1.0275 million hectares, with a forest coverage rate of 69.86%, and a standing timber volume of 149 million cubic meters, accounting for 10% of the province's total and 1% of the nation's. It is rich in wild flora and fauna resources, serving as a critical water conservation forest upstream of the Yangtze River. Known as a "National Forestry Resource County" and a "Natural Zoo," Muli is abundant in primeval green foods such as caterpillar fungus, matsutake, yak meat, and Tibetan fragrant pork.
